Research-and-Production Enterprise fiber-optic and laser equipment (NPP VOLO) was registered in June 1991.

Over the years the company has formed a team of scientists and engineers from all optical School of St. Petersburg - State Optical Institute, University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg State University.
